As you prepare for Novemberfast, here are a few things to consider, pray about and commit to in advance…
Define Your Fast - it is important that you define the parameters of your fast in advance.
NovemberFast AudioCast - determine when you will engage the AudioCast materials each day. We highly recommend this to be the first activity of the day. Each entry will be available each day at 12:01AM Pacific Time.
Prayer Times/Slots - determine how often and when you will formally pray each day. While prayer is a part of the AudioCast, many people commit to multiple times of prayer each day, especially when skipping meals.
Food/Meals - determine what specific foods/meals you will be removing from your diet. Consult your doctor first before making major adjustments, especially if you have health concerns/issues.
Social Media/Entertainment - determine what you will cut out of your schedule. Many participants will turn off social media, tv, movies, gaming, etc during this season. You will find that these distractions removed will increase your time to hear God’s voice, and at a louder volume. Your fast is, your fast. If you want to turn off the TV, but watch a weekly sports program, that is up to you and completely permissible.
Physical Commitments, Activities, Pleasures - determine what additional commitments, activities and pleasures you will add/remove from your schedule. Get them on paper so that you can see them through. Many people use the fast for additional physical exercise, walking etc.
Extra Reading - we are encouraging everyone to read an additional spiritual-help book during this season. Those in the internship already have books to read. You are welcome to chose your own, but the book that we will be officially reading is “CONTEND” by Ps Philip Anthony Mitchell available on Amazon in hardcover, kindle and audio formats.
A Note About Bible Reading - we will be reading through the Book of Acts each week of NovemberFast. That is four chapters a day, and by the conclusion of the fast, you will have read through Acts 3 times. The repetition will be well worth it. It will allow you to see clearly how God worked through the disciples after the resurrection to reach the world withthe Gospel of the Kingdom. As you read and meditate, key passages will resonate within you and uncover the vision of how God wants to use you in the lives of people in your world.
A Note About Prayer - while prayer consists of worship, thanksgiving, repentance and so much more, and during NovemberFast, you into these disciplines, we will provide 7 different petition themes throughout the week, repeated each week through the fast. These outlines are for you to adopt and edit as you feel led, and to potentially carry into your prayer closet well after the fast is over.
